The graph can be drawn accurately without extra solutions - just look at the gradient of each line. In your first sketch in Example 3, you have not drawn a steep gradient for the |2x-8| function, but rather a shallow gradient less than 1. Sketches in this scenario can be perfectly fine if you just include the correct intercepts and think purposefully about the gradients. - Dr P.
